Results: State of the trade survey 2025
MUTA’s state of the trade results are now live, offering the most detailed picture yet of how the sector is performing and what lies ahead.
This year’s findings show a resilient industry continuing to push forward despite ongoing cost pressures and significant staffing challenges.
Many businesses report stable or improving turnover expectations, but profitability remains tight as rising costs continue to outpace price growth. Recruitment and retention issues persist, contributing to higher wage levels and a growing emphasis on employee benefits.
Looking to 2026, confidence is cautiously positive, though members are navigating increasing compliance demands, stronger competition, and changing customer behaviours – including a trend towards later bookings. Sustainability is also beginning to feature more prominently in business planning and decision-making.
MUTA will use these insights to strengthen our advocacy on behalf of members and to support sustainable growth across the sector.
